Drew Joyce is an MBA with over 25 years experience in insurance and health plan finance and operations. With involvement in a number of State markets, he has developed plans and programs. As a senior HMO officer he directed Operations, Sales, Finance, and provided program leadership in the commercial, individual, Medicaid and Medicare lines of business.
Drew served as the nationwide CFO for the Medicaid line of business for Coventry Health Care, Inc., a major publicly traded insurance carrier, which is now part of Aetna, Inc. As an integral member of Coventry’s senior management team, Drew participated in its largest growth period in the Medicaid sector; becoming one of the largest Medicaid managed care programs in the country. Drew served as CFO, COO and CEO for the Virginia and West Virginia operations of Coventry Health Care, Inc. during which time, these programs became some of the most profitable plans within Coventry, added lines of business and expanded their coverage footprints.
Drew served as Treasurer for an organization engaged in multiple acquisitions and consolidating the managed care market in South Florida. He has held positions as CFO for health plans in Louisiana and North Carolina. Drew led a team that brought a new insurance company to licensure and operation in California. He has been responsible for managing and filing start-up insurance, HMO, Medicaid and Medicare programs. He has filed and managed the orderly withdrawals from markets for two HMO companies.
Highlights of some recent engagements:
Drew managed the filing for licensure for a new HMO, which resulted in approval in half the time allotted for Insurance Commissioner review. He assisted Hospital clients in completing a successful RFP response for a Medicaid contract in a major market. In another engagement, Drew provided strategic insight in the areas of Sales, Network and organization to a Hospital sponsored HMO. These activities assisted this organization with evaluation of their current investment and future options.
